The weekend appears to be filled with interesting news and stories about the Nokia 808 PureView. So here's a short roundup.
Taking your wife to the Floriade in Holland is already a feast filled with colorful flowers. Being able to bring the Nokia 808 PureView with you, makes it an even bigger feast - for you. And when you can do so on the 23rd of April (!) already, you must have some of the earliest pictures made with the very best camera phone on the planet.
We're extremely happy to have a friend in Jurgen Thysmans, who's willing to share those pictures with us and our readers. You can find them all below, and in much bigger size on Flickr (link at the bottom of this post).
We're proud to publish a few unique pictures made with the Nokia 808 PureView. Yesterday, Nokia organised a meeting at the Carl Zeiss Headquarters in the German town of Oberkochen.
The sunny day made for a perfect setting for the first Nokia 808 PureView hands-on we have been reading so much about. After a tour through the Carl Zeiss exposition area, all journalists had the opportunity to experience the device we're all waiting for. The pictures below were made with the 808 PureView even before it was handed out for testing.
After the meeting at Carl Zeiss (more later), Gizmodo also proved to be impressed with the Nokia 808 PureView.
We quote: "The camera basically is the 808 PureView; everything about the phone is geared up for the camera. In fact, I’d go as far as saying it’s almost like a camera with a phone attached, rather than the other way around."
Although at first Nokia hesitated to bring the 808 PureView to the Netherlands, the overwhelming enthusiasm for the device (from ourselves, amongst others), convinced Nokia to launch it in the country of Rembrant, Van Gogh and Mondriaan.
The price is set at €599, placing it in the high-end category, where we believe it belongs. Expected arrival time is "middle of june". We. Simply. Can't. Wait.
We hope to publish some very interesting pictures of our own today, but we also liked these from Engadget - the picture below is from their site as it shows in the left corner (thanks guys). It's great that renowned sites like Engadget are also getting enthusiastic about the Nokia 808 PureView. We can just feel it, there's something great coming our way and we don't need to wait so long for it anymore.
We are going to let you in on a little secret: at this moment we are maintaining the PureViewClub from Crete in Greece, updating the news during our visits to the beach on our short holiday...
