Nokia 808 PureView vs Panasonic DMC GX-7 & FT5 and Canon EOS 400D

Chances are huge you've already seen this on AllAboutSymbian, but I received several e-mails about it so I'll point you to this very impressive comparison myself as well.

Luke van Eede from Australia made a few fantastic shots comparing the Canon EOS 400D, Panasonic DMC-FT5, Panasonic DMC-GX7 and Nokia 808 PureView, as in the picture below.

Extra surprising is this comparison actually comes from Australia - one of the parts of the world where the Nokia 808 PureView was never officially released. Maybe it made Luke even more curious as to how it would perform against the more "classic" (and "stand alone") cameras, I don't know.

His comparison is simply outstanding - I've never done anything this good to be honest, so I really feel it deserves your attention. I'll just share one of his shots here, to show you how he compared all shots: you'll see the 808 first (top left) the FT5 (top right), GX7 (bottom left) and 400D (bottom right). And he managed to get the exact same angle in all his shots, as you can see in the example below.

You'll see several outside shots, flowers, a nightshot - just about anything you need for a detailed comparison. After seeing all his shots, I know for sure which DSLR I would choose without a doubt, but I would need to shell out more than a €1000, so that ain't going to happen for a long time I'm afraid.

And the Nokia 808 PureView is doing very well - or to use the words from Luke van Eede: this really was a test to see if the 808 is as good as standard cameras. I think I have proven that it is. It performed better than the FT5 in almost every photo. The 808, GX7 and 400D are so close in some of them, its hard to say which is better. It just goes to show that Nokia really know what they are doing when it comes to camera phones.

Just great stuff to see for yourself, you'll find it here.
