Two low light photo contests: enter and help!
Of course, I'm all excited about the upcoming announcement of the new Nokia 41MP Lumia, but there will be more stuff to write about the coming weeks. In this one I'd like to ask your attention for two contests, which both happen to have to do with low light photography. One you can enter, and on the other I need your help :-)
Join Nokia's Photography Team in New Zealand
First, I heard of Nokia partnering with Talenthouse and Dazed & Confused Magazine to give three aspiring photographers the chance to join Nokia’s official AAA team at the 2013 Burton High Fives event in New Zealand. The final winners work will be featured in the September 2013 print issue of the UK’s most influential style magazine, Dazed & Confused.
They're inviting aspiring photographers across the globe to share a new appreciation of their surroundings by submitting a photo inspired by ‘urban city and street style’, captured in ‘low light’ conditions. No less than 50 (!) finalists will then be chosen to receive the new Nokia Lumia 925 (on trial, mind you) and challenged to upload their low light photos, captured on the device, to their Talenthouse portfolios.
The closing date for entry to the competition is July 10th 2013, so you still have plenty of time to get creative and take part - visit the website for full competition details and more information about how to enter.
Help a PureViewClub member win his contest
Second, this is a favor for Sawan Bruins, my PureViewClub friend who brought my Nokia N8 back to life after (even after me replacing the battery didn't help). That really made my day as you can imagine, so I like to repay the favor.
He entered a competition from a Dutch newspaper about "low light photography" using his Nokia 808 PureView, with which he made this stunning shot from the Wester Church in Amsterdam (see below). I love that place, and some of you may have seen it as well, since it's very close to Anne Frank's house in Amsterdam.
Anyway, the only way for him to win this competition - where he can win a Canon EOS 6D kit - is to get as much likes as possible on his shot. So if you like the impressive low-light result from his Nokia 808 PureView as much as I do, go here and push the "thumbs up" button on the lower left corner (next to "stem", which means "vote").
If he ends in the top 10, a professional jury will pick the winner... There are only a few more days for him to get as much votes as possible, so don't wait too long. I hope you'll want to help him - and the Nokia 808 PureView - win this one! :-)
