Flower to the people (IVb) – comparing no less than 5 (!) smartphone cameras (part 2)
Just published part 1 of the fourth part in my Flower to the People series - shots from flowers all growing in my mother's garden. Here's part two of all the shots I made yesterday with the Nokia 808 PureView, Lumia 1020, Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom, Sony Xperia Z1 and LG G2. Dozens of shots to share, so just one post wasn't enough.
I've already shown all the crops I made, so you don't have to worry about those anymore. What's left are a few normal shots and a few in which I tried to get as close as possible. You'll find all shots in a dedicated set on the PureViewClub photosteam on Flickr (83 photos in total).
First a flower (a dhalia to be exact) that has another name as well - it's called "good morning": my mother has been trying to let me remember flowers' names for decades and I think this is the first one I managed to remember :-)
First the capture from the Nokia 808 PureView
After the break you will find several close-ups from the all devices. Like in the previous post, hover with the mouse over the shot to see which is which, click on the shot to see the original size on Flickr.First the close-up from the LG G2's camera ( 13MP in 4:3 and 10MP in 16:9)
Pretty in pink, but maybe a bit too pink? Let's see how the rest capture this flower. Next, a close-up with the Nokia 808 PureView.
I got a bit closer with the Nokia Lumia 1020
And this is the result I got from the Sony Xperia Z1
With the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom, it appeared I could get a lot closer...
Challenged by this, I tried to get even closer with the other devices. That only worked with the Nokia Lumia 1020 and the Xperia Z1 (I could have changed the resolution on the Nokia 808 PureView of course, but I chose not to). Lumia 1020 first:
And the close-up I got from the Sony Xperia Z1
Which one of these is best? You tell me, I think in fact all are doing a pretty good job here, although I must admit the colours of the Lumia 1020 appear a bit too light in comparison.
My guesss is you're just about fed up with flowers now (you'll find one more little purple flower in the set on Flickr), so I'll change the subject to grapes - also in my mother's garden.
Here's a shot from the Nokia Lumia 1020, after his you'll see some close-ups. This time I'm sure all the shots were made in the sunshine, since I paid special attention this brilliant light didn't go away during the time I needed to make them.
Don't forget to check out the original on Flickr (click the shots), these grapes look so juicy! You'll find the shots from the other devices on Flickr as well. Here are the close-ups I got from all of them (just to be sure, these aren't crops, but close-ups). First the LG G2
This is as close as I could get with the Nokia 808 PureView.
And here's as close as I could get with the Lumia 1020:
Here's a similar shot from the Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom (in this case I'm sure I could have gotten much closer, I guess I simply forgot)
And finally, here's what I got from the Sony Xperia Z1
So much from plants growing in my mother's garden. In a next post, you will find the last shots I made, from animals - that is: a wooden duck, and some nasty close-ups from a pretty big spider...
