Black is beautiful - natural colors, lower noise!

Forgive me, the headline was too tempting not to use. Many readers sent me e-mails and direct messages about the blog on GSMArena, where they are predicting a fantastic future for the imaging capacities of the Nokia Lumia 1020 (and 1520 as well). Credit where credit is due, it was NokiaPoweruser who broke the news.

I'm not sure if they are too optimistic, but here is the quote many people are so excited about: "The oversampling algorithm in the Lumia 1020 was altered compared to the 808 PureView phone resulting in oversaturated colors and noisier images. Well, Nokia is bringing back the old algorithms with the Nokia Black update. Once your Lumia 1020 is running on Nokia Black, it will produce images with less noise and more natural colors. RAW support is also on the way. The information is confirmed by Nokia’s Juha Alakarhu on Twitter.

Juha wrote: " @bigleyling @BKBKJBB Your (and some others) voice was heard!:) Oversampling in Black will result more natural and lower noise images!" You'll find his tweet  here.

It even makes me kind of proud, since Bigley Ling is in fact "bigs", who has been writing a tremendous amount of comments here at the PureViewClub about the image quality of Nokia's Lumia 1020. It looks like this Nokia Black update will be as important for the Nokia Lumia 1020 as Amber was to the Lumia 920.

I'm sure I'm not the only one eagerly waiting for this update - and I"m already preparing myself for the horror of having to wait for it in line while others are proudly sharing they already have received it (I really hope Microsoft will be able to push it like its big competitor is able to).

Not only will "Black" bring less noise an more natural colors - it will also bring RAW support to the Lumia 1020 (and 1520). You'll read what that is all about in a next post by Peter Meijs.
