Unique Recording! Nokia 808 PureView - Mumford & Sons, Pinkpop, The Netherlands

In The Netherlands, for decades people are attracted by a huge pop/rockfestival called PinkPop. Traditionally - since 1970! - the festival takes place on the Pentecost weekend, in the Southern part of Holland, in a small place called Landgraaf.

The festival lasts for three days and features the greatest pop- and rockstars around. It attracts  about 60.000 people each day. And this year, for the last time, only one of them carried a Nokia 808 PureView

Early Rich Recording with Nokia 808 PureView

I won't go as far as to say it's the first, but it must be one of the first concert recordings made with the Nokia 808 PureView - and many more will follow. Not only does the Nokia 808 PureView boast a 41MP camera, Rich Recording is a impressive technical improvement as well. I've shown it already in my own short demonstration during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona - as far as I know the first videoreport ever made with the device.

Looking forward to the Nokia 808 PureView

Some people don't really understand the great enthusiasm for the Nokia 808 PureView. So here are some thoughts about what sets this camera phone apart from other smartphones. Most of what you read here is based on what is known, though, not on longtime personal experience - not yet, although we have our own videoreport made with it already. And the enthusiasm is based on pictures and movies others  have shown us, as you might have found on this site already. So here we go, hope you like this summary of why we're looking forward to the Nokia 808 PureView so much.

First Full HD videoreport with Nokia 808 PureView

During the Mobile World Congress this year, I had the chance to make a short video on the Nokia stand using the 808 PureView and even got the videofile from the Nokia employee.

I was especially curious about the sound quality. It was my second day at the very busy stand, and I wanted to test how the Rich recording technology would handle the enormous amount of noise of the Congress. Could I still be heard amongst hundreds of people talking loudly?

Demo Rich Recording on the 808 PureView

Having heard and tested it in Barcelona, I can already acknowledge that the Rich Recording technique premiered in the Nokia 808 PureView is no less than spectacular. Nokia believes so too, and demonstrates it in this demo movie (below). Here you find the 808 PureView compared to several smartphones (Nokia N8, the Samsung Galaxy S and the iPhone 4). I'm sure you will be just as surprised as I was the first time.
