Some reviewers are faster than lightning it seems, or maybe they - like Jessica Alba - had the opportunity to play with the Nokia Lumia 920 for a while already. Anyway, I spotted two reviews today that I would like to share with you.
As you know I've been very busy with family visit last week, so there were not too much updates at the club, sorry 'bout that. There is not very much "catching up" to do either, since there has not been much news. But you shouldn't miss this post over at the French site Test-Mobile.
Their reporter went to the Finnish capital of Helsinki to make some shots with five several smartphones, the Nokia Lumia 920, Nokia 808 PureView, HTC One X, Samsung Galaxy SIII and iPhone 5. You will see the result below - I've resized all shots, you will have to check the source to see the original ones.
First, the Nokia 808 PureView on automatic settings.
Just before I fell asleep last evening I noticed a tweet by @joaoluisc linking to a post by WMPoweruser, where they brought the big news that the German MediaMarkt promisses the Nokia Lumia 920 on the first of November. Their source is a German site by the way - credit where credit is due: WPArea.de.
I was simply too tired to get up and write this post, so I used the brilliant RT function and added "#Breaking" to get the attention of my Twitter followers. Finally: we have a fixed release date, and it's 2,5 weeks from now! So that kept me busy for the night - I must admit I've been dreaming about it, but I'm not quite sure what anymore.
Most likely: how to get it? Germany is very close, the money far away... €650 no doubt is a price that will drop after a month or two, I expect it will be available for €599 quite soon (based on what happened with the price of the Nokia 808 PureView). But still, for the PureViewClub, it's of vital importance I get my hands on it asap, that's for sure... Here's the Lumia 920's at the MediaMarkt (they are offering the Nokia 820 as well).
Why am I so excited about all this? Because this is the "New PureView". Not about the giant sensor, lossless zoom and incredible macro shots, but about much better low-light performance and stable video results.
Again on Engadget today they published a lot of nightshots taken with the Nokia Lumia 920 - have a look for yourself via the link.
Nokiapoweruser pointed me to a tweet from Nokia's Kristina Björknäs, showing the result of the low-light comparison that must be quite famous by now. In this picture you'll see the results from the Nokia Lumia 920 up against the... iPhone 5. You got that right.
